For a serene Winter

Runny nose, sore throat, bronchi congested ... are manifestations of "chill" the most commonly prevalent during the winter. Mostly temporary, they are often mild but debilitating daily.

How do you get a "chill"?

Highly contagious, it spreads very easily from one person to another. Direct contact with the hands is the way in which it spreads most often, but also by touching certain objects or surfaces. Ambient air is also a source of transmission, including through sneezing or coughing close to you, via micro-droplets that escape from their airways and can travel up to your nose or mouth.

This is why the "chills" are more common during the winter months, when we often inside, close to other people in confined universe. If you are tired or less fit, then you are more likely to catch a "chill". You can feel a variety of symptoms: mild irritation of the throat, runny or stuffy nose, breathing, sneezing, body aches, drowsiness or hoarse voice.

Warning: in case of fever related to an installed infection, see a health professional.

How to get rid?

Since it is only a passing discomfort, with no fever, it is possible to act by natural methods. Initially, rest and drink plenty of water. If you smoke, stop or reduce your consumption, this will allow your lungs to "go better" faster. In fact, smoking causes a draining of respiratory mucous membranes and weakening of the antioxidant defenses of the body.

Also be sure to specifically balance and diversify your diet. Opt for foods rich in vitamins, minerals and other micronutrients helpful to the proper functioning of the immune system (vitamin C, copper, zinc ...). It is very important to remember that the "chill" usually goes alone, after a few days. To limit degradation, simply adopt good behavior. .

Simple steps to protect themselves.

Wash hands with water and soap, is one of the effective means of prevention. This seems obvious and yet many people clean water only, which does not constitute a handwashing. To be effective, the National Institute for Prevention and Health Education (INPES) recommends a wash time of 30 seconds, enough rubbing between fingers and under nails to properly remove dirt. Wash hands after public transport, toilets, etc ... may seem unquestionable but everyone does not do it ...

INPES estimated that only 53% of women and 39% of men wash their hands after taking public transport. Do not overheat the interior, in winter we spend more time indoors than out, which greatly facilitates transmission. This is especially true for people working in an air conditioned environment, where the air we breathe is not always sufficiently renewed.

On the other hand, indoors, air is often dry in the winter, which tends to dry out the mucous membranes. They thus become less effective in protecting the body potential "intruders" who try to enter.

Make the choice of Aromatherapy!

Aromatherapy uses the properties of essential oils for their virtues and complementary actions, especially with the approach of winter. This method is used for millennia in China, Egypt and in ancient Greece. Of the 800,000 known plant species, only about 10% can synthesize an essence. Essential oils are extracted 100% naturally by simple mechanical extraction (for citrus fruits in particular) or steam distillation of water from a part of the plant (flower, fruit, root, leaf, bark ...).

Only these traditional processes guarantee quality 100% pure and natural. Highly volatile and lipophilic, their diffusion through the skin and tissue gives them a perfect penetration either through the skin, by air (inhalation) or swallowed. This excellent penetration capability guarantees a very high efficiency. The combination of several essential oils, selected for a specific purpose, can act optimally. These formulas combining different essential oils are called "complex".

Warning to not play the sorcerer's apprentices! The use of essential oils requires a certain know-how and expertise in aromatherapy because these active substances can be very toxic if misused. Therefore, it is preferable to make the choice of complex developed by specialists, to benefit from the combined action of several essential oils without the risk of side effects or dosing errors, with a great ease of use and perfect the formulation dosage level.
